GREVELING, Bouke – passed away November 13, 2016 in his 91st year at Hastings Manor in Belleville.  He was predeceased by his dearly beloved wife, Anneco, in 2011.  He is survived by his children, Ian (Lori), Lawrence (Marion), and Connie (Jamie) McNeely, as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Bep Jonkman(Piet) and brother, Dick, both in the Netherlands, as well as a range of relatives and friends in both the Netherlands and Canada. Bouke was born the eldest of five children to Johannes and Dirkjie (Steenwijk) in Coevorden, Netherlands, in 1925 and grew up through the Great Depression and World War II in various cities in Holland.  The most important event in his life occurred in 1945, when he spied Anneco Blei in Church in the small town of Zwartsluis.  Their long courtship was interrupted by his conscription into the Dutch Army, a three year tour of duty in Indonesia, and immigration to Canada.  They finally married in 1953 in Bloomfield, Ontario, and immediately took up residence in Trenton, Ontario, where he and Anneco lived the remainder of their lives. Bouke worked for Bata Footwear for thirty-two years, where he ran their maintenance spare parts stockroom.  One of his proudest achievements was developing a spare part inventory management system that was adopted by Bata at many of its factories around the world. He had a lifelong commitment to his Church, and to Christian Education.  For many years, he served Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Trenton in capacities such as Treasurer, Deacon, and Elder, and Committee Member.  Over the years, he was also very active with Trenton Christian School and Quinte Christian High School as a Committee Member. He loved camping and shared that with his children when they were growing up.  He had a passion for photography, leaving a legacy of thousands of photographs, and received several awards for his pictures.  In retirement, he took up woodcarving, and his creations grace all of his children’s and grandchildren’s homes. Special thanks to the staff of Hastings Manor, who cared for him so lovingly and effectively in his last days. Arrangements under the direction of the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Service will be held at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Marc Hoogstad officiating.
