Donnan, Jack (John Wesley)
August 26, 1944 – January 6, 2017.
After a hard fought difficult battle with cancer, Jack passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with love, by his wife of 45 years, Sandy, and daughters Jackie Sherry (Chris) and Andrea (David Foster). Feeling the loss of their Grandpa, are Carson, Isaac, and Julianna Sherry. Much loved brother of Ruth and Allan Munro, Norma and Ray Darrah, all of Stirling, and Ronald and Sherry Donnan, of Munroe, Georgia. Predeceased by his parents, Hamilton and Lelia Donnan, and brother Douglas Donnan. Survived also by sisters-in-law Laura (Denis) Redford, and Wendy (Daryl) Lichti, and brother-in-law Gerald (Lynda) Stratford. Predeceased by sister-in-law June (Bill) Clark. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in the Stirling area, Jack graduated from Ryerson in 1967, then going on to start his career with Beaver Lumber (Tillsonburg) before returning with Sandy to the family dairy farm in Stirling, in 1974. Many lifelong friendships were made in the Tillsonburg area, with hockey being the common interest. Jack also enjoyed curling, as well as golf. Teaching his grandkids to golf was one of his proudest accomplishments. Jack will be missed by his many friends at Oak Hills Golf Club. After retiring from active dairy farming, Jack worked with the McKeown Motors Family. Woodworking became his passion in later years. Jack always said, “If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. True to his upbringing, Jack lived by the words “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. A true gentle man, whose family was his greatest joy.
Jack’s family extends sincere thanks for the excellent care he received over the last 8 months, in particular from the in-home nursing care team. Special thanks to Dr. Lionel Noronha for his care and concern. Very special thanks to our family, friends, and neighbors, for your loving support over these difficult months. Never will we forget your kindnesses.
As per Jack’s wishes, a private family burial of cremated ashes will take place at a later date.
