The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Lillian Hookey can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolences

Condolence From: HUGUETTE GILLIS
Condolence: Just learn from a friend about "Grace" , I am so sorry to hear this. We met many years ago in Portage la Prairie as my husband Hughie and Ron were working together, Grace and I spent lots of time together, she also took care of my children at times, Steven and Shirley , Daniel and Debbie who was the same age as Darrel and Doug. Grace babysat Gary, all of us did our shopping on Friday evening and ended up at either their house or ours.

It has been a few years since we saw each other, we were also stationed in Trenton, visited , kept in touch and once in a while I will leave London, On. Where I reside and visited on my way to Quebec, it was always good to see each other, it was like we hadn't been away from each other.
My condolences to Steven, Dany, Doug and Darrell and your families, so sorry for the loss of your Mom. She was such a good Mom and a good friend to me. My prayers are with you all. Love, HUGUETTE

Condolence From: Laurel and Lorne Luker
Condolence: When Lorne and I first moved to Trenton in 1984 we were so happy to find so many Luker family members.
We had years and years of get together parties, BBQ's, and lazy afternoons playing cards, rumikub and train. For years Grace would drop in every noontime almost always holding her fast food lunch calling out from the front door "done the Avon---have you had lunch yet ?" Many many times when we had supper ready we would phone and say suppers ready -- got lots--come on over. She would answer okay give me 5 minutes. She ate way too much fast food so supper became a prelude to a few games of Mexican train.

During our long sojourn in Trenton Grace and Anita became dearest friends and it was not long before they became my SISTERS.

Way back I convinced Grace she needed to walk a bit,so she walked with me a few blocks every day and after a week or so we walked all the way downtown and then all the way back home. We were both having a hard time the last half of Sidney street . After that she went back to driving over and no more walking and I quit walking and rode my bicycle. We have missed her so much since we moved.
We will miss her always. Sisters live in our hearts forever.

Condolence From: Lee and Bev
Condolence: Our deepest sympathies.
Aunt Grace and Uncle Ron have been a touchstone in my life for as long as I can remember.

Being a military family, like Mom and Dad and mine, we crossed paths and postings often throughout my life.
With Doug, Darrell, Dan, and Steve being close to my age there were many times we cousins visited each other as I grew up as well as on into adulthood.

With them retired in Trenton just a block away from Mom and Dad for most of my military career, every time I went home for a visit or was on course in Kingston and vising Mom and Dad on the weekends I always went over for a visit or they would come see me at Mom and Dads.

It was always comfortable visiting Aunt Grace, surrounded by beautiful collectibles and the stability of a home settled and familiar. It seemed like every few years I was moving to another province and house but it always felt like home to go back to Trenton and all my family there.

Many times over the years I went to her to order some favored makeup or beauty cream for Mom or Bev and I don‘t think she ever let me pay for any of it.

When Bev and I were posted to Trenton in 2007 we saw Aunt Grace much more often. Whether it was at BBQ’s and family get togethers or just a Sunday dinner at Mom and Dads and Mexican Train after it was always fun visiting with her. Just don’t joke around too much when playing, games are a serious endeavor, pay attention and keep up or Aunt Grace would let you know you were slacking off.

You could always tell when Aunt Grace was over visiting Mom and Dad by her car parked out front. It made me smile to think that she always drove the block and a half to their house even if that was the only place she was going that day.

I will miss her welcoming arms and great hugs but know that her family and legacy will continue. I feel close to my cousins and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We are sorry we could not be there to morn with you but know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

Love Lee and Bev
