Obituary for Lois Burls McKnight (Burls)

LOIS BURLS McKNIGHT
OCTOBER 1, 1933 – FEBRUARY 2, 2018
It is with great celebration that we announce that God opened heaven’s door for Lois Burls McKnight on February 2, 2018 in Belleville, Ontario at the age of 84 years. Lois grew up in Norfolk, NY and attended Houghton College, Houghton NY. She married and immigrated to Canada where she lived in Brockville, Ottawa and Trenton, Ontario. She taught school in Massena, NY and at Trenton Christian School, Trenton, ON. She dedicated her life to raising her children and faithfully serving her Lord and Saviour. Lois lived this out through children’s and overseas missions ministries as well as obediently sharing her faith and God’s grace with her children and grandchildren and with those she encountered in daily life. She truly enjoyed God’s creation and would spend time outdoors gardening, camping, walking and sharing this joy with her family.

Lois is predeceased by her parents, Ella (Beckstead) and Hubert Burls, two sisters, Velva (Clary), Lily (Phillips) and two brothers, Ellwood and Howard. Surviving Lois are her sister, Nina (Burls) Alden, her children, Joelle Pember (Doug), Glenn (Erika Leake), Esther Schultz (Kevin) and Karen Hotchkiss (Shawn) and ten grandchildren: Rebekah, Nathan and Hannah Pember, Daniel, Joshua and Lydia McKnight, Raylene Schultz, Ella, Julia and Andrew Hotchkiss.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Lorrie Hart for graciously, faithfully and lovingly attending Mom for the past two years. Thank you also to the nursing and support staff at The Belmont for their faithful and caring attention.

Visitation will be held at RUSHNELL FUNERAL HOME, 60 Division Street, Trenton on Friday, February 9, 2018, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Lois’ life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at10:30 a.m. at Trenton Wesleyan Church, 274 2nd Dug Hill Road, Trenton, ON. Refreshments will be served following the service.
